Operation Orphans is needing additional ranches to take kids hunting and individuals to serve as guides. Operation Orphans, Inc. has taken kids who are wards of the State of Texas deer hunting since 1960. The children come from child residential facilities and foster homes from all across Texas. Landowners or lease hunters from areas surrounding Mason County allow the kids, accompanied by a guide, to hunt. The ranchers use this program as a way to harvest excess game.
